In the scorching heat of Pompano, Florida, a heartbreaking scene unfolded — a dog, tethered to a utility pole with a leash so short he could barely move, reached out his paw to a police officer, as if begging for rescue.

Officer Angela Laurella responded swiftly to the report of two abandoned dogs, though no cameras were nearby to reveal how long they had been there or who had left them behind.

One of the dogs, later named Liam, was severely underweight and dehydrated, his frail body showing every rib. Yet, despite the suffering, he gently extended his paw to Officer Laurella in a quiet plea for kindness.

Deeply moved, the officer acted fast and reached out to the animal rescue “100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida.”
Liam, a 17-pound pocket bulldog, is now safe and on the road to recovery. After multiple vet visits and the loving care of a foster named Roman, Liam is slowly gaining strength, learning to eat properly, and rediscovering trust. Though his journey is far from over, his spirit remains strong.
