When 13-year-old Lucinda was riding home on a rainy afternoon, she didn’t expect to become a hero — but that’s exactly what happened. Out of nowhere, five tiny, wet kittens appeared in front of her. Moments later, nine more joined them. Helpless, scared, and clearly abandoned, these kittens needed someone… and Lucinda answered the call.

She rushed home, grabbed a laundry basket, and gathered all 14 kittens. Realizing she couldn’t care for them on her own, she called Lort Smith Animal Hospital for help. That’s when she made an unforgettable choice: Lucinda spent her $50 birthday money to take a taxi and bring the kittens to safety.

Thanks to her kind heart, all 14 kittens are now safe, warm, and on their way to finding loving homes.
